What is OTR and why is it not included ?

motogb have always chosen to list all their machines as a net price PLUS OTR charges.

OTR charges are £200 for machines up to & including 125cc and £300 for machines above 125cc

So what is OTR?

OTR stands for On The Road and OTR charges consist of -

  • First registration fee: A one-time fee for registering the vehicle with the DVLA.
  • Road Tax (VED): Varies by engine size and is a yearly payment for sub 600cc machines. Over 600cc machines can be taxed for 6 or 12 months
  • Number plates: The cost of making and fitting the physical number plates.
  • Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI): Removing a machine from the transportation crate, assembling it and then giving it a thorough check over, including a full nut & bolt check, lubricate all pivot points, adjust all levers and cables, fill and charge the battery, checking all levels, setting tyre pressures, adding fuel and finally a road test to ensure the bike is ready for handover.
  • Delivery costs: The freight costs to get the bike to the dealership from the distributor. motogb are one of the few distributors that offer the dealer the option to take a new machine assembled and rolling, delivered in a van. This benefits smaller dealers who do not have the physical space or the resources required to handle bikes transported in crates by HGV. motogb have a dedicated team of 6 full time bike builders who take crates from the warehouse and remove the machines, assemble them and then load them into a fleet of LWB vans that deliver bikes and scooters to 160+ dealers all over the UK from the Scottish Highlands to the tip of Cornwall inc Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Only 10% of the machines we sell to dealers are delivered direct from the warehouse in crates via HGV, the other 90% sold all go rolling.

this explains why OTR charges are now £300 for machines over 125cc - because our *delivery costs continue to rise, our staff are becoming awkward and want paying wages and our vans don't run on fresh air...
